Practice Emphasis:
Charles regularly advises people regarding the management, preservation, and protection of assets for Veterans or their spouse, and Medicaid planning. He enjoys helping individuals and families establish and accomplish suitable goals in the area of asset management and protection and regarding the making of health care decisions for a disabled individual. Planning in this area is something that virtually every individual and family needs; whether it be deciding how assets should be used for minor children if both parents were to pass away, planning for or dealing with the onset of an illness which makes long-term care necessary for an individual either in a nursing home assisted living or an in-home setting, or helping finalize a loved one’s affairs. Charles has counseled numerous families regarding wills, revocable living trusts, and the funding of those trusts, asset preservation and nursing home expense planning, Guardianships, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and the probate administration process. Charles speaks frequently to various groups on the issues of Medicaid eligibility, Elder Law, Estate & Tax planning, Guardianships, Supplemental Needs Trusts and planning for the elderly. Charles is a partner and member of the Elder Law and Trust & Estate Planning Sections at Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, LLP. He is also an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for Veterans Affairs Benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
