Practice Areas & Professional Experience:
Jim joined the firm in 1986 and is a partner. He is a trial attorney and an advisor to business and governmental clients in labor and employment matters.
Jim’s litigation practice areas include governmental and law enforcement liability, labor and employment litigation, commercial litigation and product liability. He has appeared in state and federal courts and agencies as retained counsel and first chair in hundreds of cases and has tried a number of contested trials and proceedings before juries/judges during his career. He has successfully represented clients in cases involving governmental and law enforcement liability, class action labor and employment issues, anti-trust, employment discrimination, commercial litigation, product liability, automobile negligence, defamation and estate litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Jim gained invaluable jury trial experience by serving as Chief Counsel for the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office where he tried felony cases, including death penalty cases. He also served as a Trial Deputy for the Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office where he tried felony cases.
Education: Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana, J.D., 1981; Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, B.A., 1977, Phi Beta Kappa.
Admission to Practice: State of Indiana; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana; and U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
