Beers Mallers Attorney Publishes General Guide to Auction Law

BMBS attorney Kurt R. Bachman published an authoritative book on the various legal issues faced by auctioneers entitled “Waiting for the Hammer to Fall: A General Overview of Auction Law“.

Waiting for the Hammer to Fall” provides a general guide and covers many areas of auction law from licensing issues and state regulation to more complex questions involving the conduct of each sale. It not only discusses the laws that affect the business of auctioneering, but also clearly defines specific practices, such as absentee bidding and absolute auctions. The NAA contracted with Mr. Bachman to develop the guide for its members to use as a resource for spotting potential issues that they typically encounter in their trade. Kurt is also a lifetime member of the National Auctioneers Association.

Kurt R. Bachman is a partner with Beers Mallers Backs & Salin where his practice concentrations are in the areas of tax, estate planning, corporate, municipal, real estate and auction law. He regularly acts as an instructor for the Reppert School of Auctioneering in Auburn, Indiana. Kurt is also frequently asked to write articles for national and state level trade publications and has been retained to serve as an expert witness.
