Indiana Medicaid Waivers: How to Qualify and What to Expect

The technical term for the health requirement is that you meet “Nursing Facility Level of Care,” or, in other words, have a substantial medical condition.
Often, whether a substantial medical condition arises to the level that one qualifies for Nursing Facility Level of Care centers around one’s ability to handle their own Activities of Daily Living (“ADLs”). The key question with ADLs is not whether you can complete these tasks, but whether you can do them independently and safely.
There are six categories of ADLs: bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, toileting, and feeding. If you struggle with three or more of these areas, you may qualify for Medicaid assistance.
